A Christmas Memory
The 8th graders kicked off the Christmas season by diving into Truman Capote's classic short story "A Christmas Memory". This endearing story took the 8th graders back in time to the Great Depression where they viewed the world through the eyes of 7-year-old "Buddy" who has gone to live with his older cousin for the holiday season. It is through their time together of making fruitcakes, kites, and memories that we witnessed the true meaning of Christmas -- giving to those we don't know. In order to be fully immersed in the story, the 8th graders spent a day making hot-cocoa ornaments, old-fashioned candle ornaments, and hand-made kites -- all of which will be given to the Hospitality House.á
