NCWISE Parent Assistant is a new web-based application to help
parents track their student’s progress in school and is now available
for parents of children in Watauga County schools.
A 4-minute video about NCWISE Parent Assistant can be viewed by going
to Cove Creek School's website http://wataugasd.cces.schoolfusion.us/.
Choose Parent Links along the top of the screen, then click Parent Assist
Module Video Tutorial to start the video.
Parents must attend a training session at Cove Creek School to receive a username and password to access the NCWISE Parent Assist Portal. Parents will be asked to provide a picture ID before they can receive their username and password to protect the privacy of our students.
Parents only need to attend ONE session and DO NOT need to sign up ahead of time. Sessions will last 30 minutes.
Training sessions will be provided in the 3-5 Computer Lab (beside Media Center) as follows:

Friday, February 3 - 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Friday, February 3 - 5:45 pm - 6:15 pm

Math Counts
Two groups of Cove Creek students (7th & 8th graders) have created videos for a national math competition sponsored by Math Counts. Each group had to select a math problem from a bank of 270. They then decided how to solve the problem and how best to present it in video form. Right now the competition is only on the first round (public voting). The top 20 vieos advance to the next round. Voting is open through the end of January. Winners of the competition will receive $1000 scholarships each.

for only someone at Cove Creek, we can’t make outside deliveries.
They will be delivered to their class on Tuesday, February 14th.

Applications & information packets are available in the office for interested students. Auditions will be held Thursday, Feb. 16th at 2:30 PM in the band room. Snow date for auditions is Monday, Feb. 20th. We would like to invite any student or small group of students to participate. Acts can include singing, dancing, playing instruments, skits, comedy acts, magic acts, gymnastics, etc.

by collecting a total of 9,680 outdated telephone directories.

National Anthem
The Chorus will perform the National Anthem at the Watauga High School basketball game
on Friday, February 10 in the gymnasium.
Students will need to come early for a rehearsal before the game.
Chorus students are to wear a shirt with their school colors.

Mr. Cone in the Dominican Repubic
In late November Mr. Cone, along with Mrs. Smalling (Principal, Hardin Park), had the privilege of traveling to the Dominican Republic with Life Touch Memory Mission 2011 to help build a school. Check out the video below for a few snapshots of their trip and the work they accomplished. What an awesome opportunity and experience they could share with us!

Cove Creek Quilts!
4th grade students finished up their first two projects from the WEF grant we received in the fall. Students did both hand and machine sewing to make a Christmas sachet and completed a story quilt which is on display outside the Media Center. This semester, "Cove Creek Quilts!" will undertake to make a quilt to raffle off for Relay for Life, and also paint a barn quilt to be put up at the school.

Congratulations to our Cove Creek Girls On The Run team for completing their first race of the 2011-12 season; a 5K Race in Asheville, NC on December 10th. We are so proud of all your hard work and for completing the race with style and grace! Love those smiling faces...
