Honoring Mothers
First Graders honored their mothers today with their annual Mother's Day Breakfast.  Students dressed in their Sunday best and treated their mothers to some tasty goodies and several handmade keepsakes which included a garden stepping stone, handwritten poems and heartfelt letters which they read aloud.  The teachers and teacher's assistants even prepared a darling photo-shoot for the children and their honored guests.  It was hard to contain the precious smiles and snuggling hugs and yes, even a few joyful tears as the children demonstrated their love and appreciation for their mothers.
A memorable time was had by all !

Overdue Meal Charges
The Cafeteria has requested that all overdue meal charges be paid by Friday, June 12th at 11:30AM (when the cafeteria register closes for the current school year).  All negative cafeteria balances must be paid prior to the last day of school. Payments made after this date will need to be handled in the school office.  Please send your payment to the school cafeteria as soon as possible.  Charge letters have been sent home.  Payments can also be made online using LunchPrePay (see link below).  Thank you!

Teacher, Nurse & Child Nutrition Appreciation
A Week of Appreciating - May 4-8
“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.”
– Henry Adams

Our deepest respect and admiration goes out to ALL our teachers and staff, nurses and child nutrition colleagues who work hard each and every day to teach and to serve the children and staff of Cove Creek School!  Your work never goes unnoticed.  We appreciate you so very much and thank you for the dedication and effort you put forth each and every day to educate and develop the young minds around you.  Thank you for the high standards you set and the role models you serve as for these students.  We hope you feel especially loved and pampered this week!  Don't forget to thank a teacher this week!

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier 2015
In recent weeks, the Cove Creek 8th grade took a three day whirlwind tour of Washington D.C..  As part of their trip, they visited Arlington Cemetery and participated in the Laying of the Wreath Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider.  As a class assignment, the 8th graders wrote a persuasive essay about why they should be chosen to lay the wreath. And after much deliberation from a panel of teachers who read each essay, the top four essay writers were announced. They were (from L-R) Grace Moorhead, Sarah Tyndall, Jackson Propst, and Isaac Styles. We wish to extend our congratulations to these students who represented our school.  Thank you for honoring these fallen soldiers, and all our military men and women with great pride and humility!
